Accounting Assistant Skills and
Qualifications:
Minimum of Four (4) years progressively responsible experience in accounting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Principles, practices, and methods of modern accounting and auditing; principles and practices of financial administration; modern office practices, procedures, methods and equipment; modern principles and practices in operations procedures and data processing; application of data processing in the maintenance of accounting records.
SKILL:
Accurately record accounting detailed transactions. Maintain accuracy of accounting records. Ensure accounting policies and procedures are maintained and followed. Working knowledge of accounting software and transaction processes.

Accounting Assistant Job Duties:
Computes and/or records financial transactions and other account information (such as interest) to update or maintain accounting records.
Compiles employee time and payroll data from time sheets and other records. Reviews time sheets for completeness and accuracy. Enter data to payroll software to generate bi-weekly payroll.
Record inventories raw material, finished goods, real property and equipment, and records description, value, location, and other information.
Check accuracy of balances, calculations, postings, and other records pertaining to business or operating transactions, and reconciles or notes discrepancies.
Calculates such items as amounts due, balances, costs, discounts, interest, net charges, outstanding balances, principal, ratios, taxes, and wages.
Prepare Sales and Use tax returns.
Prepare wire payments, AP checks, is responsible for Petty Cash, updates and monitors cash forecast.
Types billing documents credit and debit memorandums, and credit forms.
Prepare and monitor 401K transactions.
Prepare and record Accounts Receivable transactions.
Record other miscellaneous transactions as needed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
