06/29/2023Job Summary/Scope This position performs technical work assisting with the installation, inspection and maintenance of electrical substation and related equipment.
Job Responsibilities Major Duties Assist in the installation, operation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of all types of equipment used in electrical substations.
Assists in the installation, construction, and modification of all types of equipment, structure, bus, communications and control schemes, etc.

Assist in the testing and repair of high voltage transformers, circuit breakers, reclosers, capacitors, voltage regulators and other related equipment.

20 Education/Experience Requirements Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Specialized training in substation equipment and apparatus preferred.
Completion of Substation Career Development Program, Module One required for promotion to Substation Technician II.
Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A CDL permit within six months of hire.

Other Requirements Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and be on a rotating schedule to standby to be called in to work after normal working hours.
Must reside no more than 30 minutes from the Operations Center Work Environment/Physical Demands This is medium/heavy work requiring the exertion of force of sometimes over 50 pounds occasionally, 20-50 pounds frequently, and 10-20 pounds constantly.
Must be able to perform the physical activities of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform job related tasks.
The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and may be subject to the final standards of OSHA on blood borne pathogens.
